Toni was my happy and life-loving, Aunt, with an infectious laugh and smile. Toni being 14 years younger than my mom, was always a staple at our house in Waukee, IA, while my brother and I were growing up. My mom and dad loved and cared for Toni, like their own daughter. Then when Toni got older, they all became the best of friends. Every year for Christmas, when my brother and I were little, Toni would make us a handcrafted gift. One year she made us large stuffed Panda Bears! Such talent she had! We also enjoyed her visits back to Iowa, after she moved to Florida. Every time she visited, we would pick her up from the airport and head straight to the grocery store to load up on AE chip dip and chips along with cottage cheese! It was always a fun filled week which always included car road trips to see all the Iowa Tibben relatives and friends. My mom, her sister, always enjoyed their family time together. Then as we got older, Brittany and the other nieces and nephew joined in on the family fun. As a young girl, our family drove to Florida every year, to spend the Christmas holiday with Toni and grandparents. Toni always put family and good friends first. She loved to laugh, giggle and cry when we said our goodbyes. Huntington’s cut her precious life short but what a wonderful life she lived especially after the birth of her long awaited daughter, Brittany, who was the love of her life.
Rest easy, Aunt Toni. The wonderful memories I have with you will last a lifetime. Love you always, your niece, Denise:)

I wish that I had the pleasure of knowing Toni before that horrible disease took over and robbed her of the active life she led. Even after it took over her body she remained feisty and ready to let you know how she was feeling. I loved her like she was my own and will miss her greatly. She now has her body and abilities back and I hope she gets to meet my mom in Heaven. Love you Toni and Brittany,
Tammie Crawford

Toni was a beautiful, fun-loving, second cousin ... six years younger than me! A fond Thanksgiving memory/celebration when Brittany was a baby. First time to have fried turkey ... the best. Toni and Bruce were the best & sweet Brittany was the cutest! ... Lexington, SC. Reconnecting after all these years! (:
Miss you angel Toni!

When Toni moved to Florida, we didn't keep in touch as much as we wanted to. But when Toni would come back to Waukee to visit her family, it was like she had never left. There are no friends like your childhood friends.
Here is a picture of us having fun with Toni when she was in Waukee for her birthday in June, 1987.
Deb Rees, Carol Honken, my sister Karla Hunter, me (Kim), and Toni. We always had a lot of laughs together!

Toni's folks rented a cabin at Lost Island Lake every June. Toni invited me to go with her for three summers in a row. We spent the days fishing, swimming, talking and giggling. Boy, did her parents love to fish, and we would catch hundreds of bullheads! One morning Toni and I wanted to take the little fishing boat out by ourselves. After a lot of discussion, she finally talked her dad into letting us go alone. (He would grumble, but she could always sweet talk him into giving her what she wanted!) We took off and thought we were pretty hot stuff.
Here is the only picture I have of those fun times and those treasured memories. Toni and I are standing in front of the little green cabin where we stayed.
I will never forget you, my friend!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Toni was such a sweet soul who suffered so much the past few years. I know she was a Christian and she is at peace in heaven. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

From her dear friend Robyn Senseman:
Toni had a Plymouth Duster she drove in high school. She would come down my street every school day and honk her horn in front of my house on the way by so I knew it was time for me to leave for school. I spent many days and nights over at Toni's house. We snuck out her window once or twice to meet up with our friends nearly getting caught one time. Thankfully her Mom and Bing never caught us. Our group of friends we called the Iris circle gang. We stayed in contact after high school right up to about 10 yrs ago. I have missed our friendship over the last years and I will miss Toni forever as she goes home to be with her family and friends that have gone before her. RIP my friend

When I was 12 years old, I went on "vacation," as we called it.. I went to live with my cousins in Thaxton, VA for a few months while things down in SC simmered back down some... I remember dad and his friend Pinecone renting a Chevrolet Colorado crew cab to come get me and bring me back...on St. Patrick's Day 2009. I had been gone since Thanksgiving 2008. I remember her smile as we pranced around our makeshift winter wonderland opening presents. On St Patrick's Day, ha! It was one of those emotional times where the disease had been progressing, but she was still her. And that was my favorite Christmas with her.

I do believe the first photo is of Kim Carruthers, Momma, and me when I was just a tiny little thing. The second photo is of her, her parents , and her siblings. The third, which I am wary of posting as it shows an intense physical change due to Huntington's Disease, is of her and I around my 20th birthday in 2016.
She always radiated love, light, and happiness in her life, especially when I got the opportunity to visit her in the nursing home. Her appearance may have changed due to her medical condition, but her eyes and smile always reflected her beauty before the disease took control.

As her daughter, I have many fond memories with my beautiful mother. All of the school class parties, dance class parent observations and recitals, the class field trips, park trips, birthday parties, holidays.... One of the most precious memories I keep so near and dear to my heart was the day I brought my lovely honey, Josh, to meet her. The way her eyes lit up, and her smile spread across her face was absolutely priceless to me. I will always cherish her smile and laugh, and the amount of love she and I shared.
I ask that everyone post a memory of her that you hold dear to your heart as I will be printing these memories to put in her keepsake book.
