Obituary of Judith Burnside Roof

Judith Burnside Roof (Judy) age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Greenville, Judy grew up in Chester and later moved to Columbia where she raised her family. Judy devoted herself to the two most important things in her life - her faith and her family. She was involved in many religious, philanthropic, political and social activities and found great joy in helping others. She recently retired from her job after 16 years at Marketlife Ministries. She loved her Lord and Savior and honored Him in all that she did. Judy is survived by her husband, R. Phil Roof; daughter, Deanna Hathaway of Columbia; sons Phil, Jr. (Presley Ann) of Mt. Pleasant and Jason (Jessica) of Charlotte; grandchildren Chelsea, Savannah, Flynn, Virginia, Slade and Brooks. She is also survived by her brother, Randy Burnside of Jupiter, Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents, Belvin and Annie Ruth Burnside and her brother, Ronald Burnside. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on June 16 at 2 pm at Chapin United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
