Chester was the 'growing up' place for many of us. Judy's commitment to her church was where I got to know her and her brothers. We were fortunate children, pre-teens and teens together.
May family and friends, with their loving care, continue to hold and support you in the coming days and months. Betty Engle Stoddard, Raleigh, NC, formerly of Chester.

When I think of Judy, I remember how many laughs we had. We thoroughly enjoyed being co-chairman of the Lexington Cancer Society - attended meetings in California (of course, Judy had to take me to the Crystal Cathedral) and we did make a stop on Las Vegas to see some shows. Charlie and I enjoyed all the tail-gates for USC football games and our trip to Florida for the Gator Bowl. Lots of fun memories. Thoroughly enjoyed subbing at her home for bridge (she was the perfect hostess). When I think of Judy, I will always remember her with a smile and how gracious she was. I know she will be missed by so many.

Judy was one of those people that you instantly loved. We first met years ago when our sons played baseball. Years passed, and I ran into her again when I was a banker in Chapin. We had a wonderful time catching up.... She was always smiling, and always doing something for others. She will be missed here on earth, however, GOD got another angel. Sending our prayers and our love to you all....

Judy was a light unto all the world. What a privilege it was to call her a friend. She taught us so much about living life, always trying new adventures, but she taught us how to submit to God’s plans as she left this earthly life never questioning God just knowing that He was preparing a mansion for her. She will be missed.

Our dear friend Judy was an inspiration to all who knew her...a beautiful soul.
We first met at a Columbia Christian Women's Club luncheon in the mid 80s and became good friends over the years. When Judy undertook any task she was faithful to see it through to her very best ability. That's a character trait to be admired, and she had many more.
The first Yaya to finish this earthly race and enter her heavenly home...
We will miss her and cherish the memories we made together.

Mrs Roof always smiled. I was around her as a gangly adolescent and saw her most recently as an adult. She was the very same smiling, listening, joyful person. She made the world a better place.

To know Judy was to love Judy. I was blessed to call Judy my friend. She was a great example of what a Christian looks and acts like. As frail as she was on May 23, she still remembered it was my birthday. She called me and apologized for not sending a card. I was honored that she called. Am thrilled that I had that time with her on the phone. She was an amazing sweet lady who witnessed for Jesus and endlessly bragged on her family. She will be missed.
