Obituary of Jackson Abbott Sheard

Jack, 74, passed away in Columbia, SC on April 6, 2018. He was born in Suffolk, Va to Kenneth Herman and Mary Abbott Sheard on December 6, 1943. He graduated from Ft Lauderdale High School. He attended The University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. On June 10, 1967 he married Susan Manning. They lived and started their family in Freeport, Bahamas then moved to Miami, FL followed by Tallahassee, FL. In 2016, after retirement, they moved to Columbia, SC to be closer to his children and grandchildren that brought him so much happiness. Jack is survived by his wife, Susan, his son Jackson Abbott Sheard, Jr (Marlene), his daughter Susanna McDowell Sheard Kuenn (Jeff), his grandchildren; Ryan Manning Sheard, Isabella Cristina Sheard, Preston McDowell Kuenn and Elizabeth Manning Kuenn, his sister, Elizabeth Sheard Coyne (Tom) and his brother, Kenneth Herman Sheard, Jr. The great joys of his life were his family, his dog Shadow, his trips to Europe with his wife, hunting and family trips to the mountains. The funeral service will be held at the church where he was married 51 years ago, St Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church, Columbia, SC, this Saturday, April 14 at 10:30am. A reception will be held following the service in The Garden Room at the church.
