Obituary of Lillian Elizabeth Owens

b. June 2, 1937 - d. March 21, 2021

Libby's journey on this Earth has sadly come to an end.

Momma grew up in a large family of 9 children in the small low country town of Furman, SC.

Momma was the picture of a Southern Belle, full of life and pearls of wisdom. She had a real passion for living and a remedy for everything. Not to mention the smartest and best-looking family around -- just ask her.

Momma loved hosting big family gatherings where she could entertain and feed the family all kinds of her unusual concoctions. She could dance a mean "Jitterbug" and, if you stuck around long enough, she'd teach you herself. She often spoke of dancing in contests with her brother when she was younger.

Momma was a woman of many talents and she inherited her entrepreneurial spirit from her parents. She really loved her flower gardening passionately and could make anything grow. On nearly any given day, you could find her tucked away in a mess of flowers digging and planting to her hearts content.

Libby was pre-deceased by her parents Sidney and Lillian Bowers, as well as several of her brothers and sisters, her daughter Debbie, and her husband Charles. She is survived by her children Skeeter, Kitty, Dona, Gene, grandchildren Jeremy, Nicholas, Joshua, Joni, Jordan, numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Momma knew how very much she was loved and cared for by her loving children. We will miss her more than any mere words could ever express.

A joint memorial service with Belton Geddings will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Woodridge Memorial Park Gazebo, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
