Obituary of Nellie Louise Lynch

Nellie L. Lynch, 76, formerly from Florence, SC, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2021. She passed away in her sleep after years of fighting her COPD illness. She was born in Sneedville, Tennessee to Henry M. Johnson and Opal Mae Johnson. Her parents have already left to be with the Lord and to welcome her when she got to Heavens gates.

Nellie lived a simple country life growing up on a farm with eight siblings. She had four sisters, Ruth Johnson, Goldean White, Ivajean Gilliam and later Phyllis Johnson and three brothers Elmer Johnson, Gale Johnson, and Timothy Rex Johnson. She was the last living of her siblings left and was ready to meet them again. She had many memories she shared about their adventures up on Newman’s Ridge in the Tennessee Mountains.

She worked in the nursing field for many years helping those in nursing homes then changed careers to private duty sitting. She was always willing to help those sick in her family and has spent time with them after surgeries to nurse them back to health. She loved to go to the beach and eat shrimp, visit the flea market weekly and loved her flowers in her yard.

Nellie is survived by her two children, Teresa (Burgess) Hendrix and Tracy E. Burgess, granddaughters - Danielle (Bart) Trimnal and Kayla Lynch, grandsons - George W (Jessica) Lynch and Blake Burgess, seven great-grandchildren, cousins and many nieces and nephews.

A remembrance service will be held this spring providing Covid-19 restraints have been lifted by then. She wanted to have her ashes spread up on Newman’s Ridge where her mother is. It is a beautiful spot overlooking a huge valley below. Family and friends will be notified when the time gets closer.
