Obituary of David D. Williamson

David D. Williamson passed away and got his Angel Wings on December 25, 2020, about 8:45 a.m. Christmas morning. He was 72 yrs young, gone to soon. His birthday is on February 27, 1948. He passed away at home as he wished to do.

David lost his short battle with Pancreatic Cancer, even though he fought it very valiantly. David had his wife, Shirley J. Williamson, along with stepson, Michael Aultman at the home with him when he passed.

David graduated from Dreher High School. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps. While in the Corps he served 2 tours in Vietnam and was also awarded the Purple Heart for his injuries while he served his 4 yrs over there.

When his time was up in the Marine Corps, he then went and enlisted into the Air Force, he was in there for a year. Then with David being the way he is, he said "I am going to try another branch of service, so look out Coast Guard here I come." David proudly served over 28 yrs total with all of the different Armed Services that he served in before he retired from them.

Once David became a civilian once again and got adjusted back to normal life, that is if there is ever such a thing after serving so long in the MILITARY, he worked for Lake Norman Fire Equipment in Mooresville, N.C. He did some tax work along with doing some Real Estate sales. Wasn’t the best type of work but a job was a job.

David loved the outdoors, if it had to do with fishing, boating and having fun on the water. He was even involved with the Red Man Fishing Series, along with the Washington Redskins doing fishing with some of their athletes. David, along with some of his other friends, would help underprivileged kids learn how to fish from both bank & boat fishing.

David & Shirley loved to go Rving/Glamping as much as they could. He would do his karoake. They would dance with each other under the stars. They would go to Florida, North Carolina and a few other places. Then when they were home they would go out to The Woody and enjoy Shagging and Slow Dancing in each others arms. God how I am going to miss my Soul mate so.

David Loved to do Karoake, sing, and boy did he LOVE to DANCE. When he sang doing Karoake, he had such a Beautiful voice. A couple of the songs that he sang and usually got in “ trouble with" was called After The Loving by Engelbert Humperdinck, along with I Overlooked an Orchid searching for a Rose by Mickey Gilley.

David loved to shoot pool. He was in a few pool leagues. He NEVER met a stranger and some of the ones that he met in these tournaments became friends for life. David would ALWAYS lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved to be happy and to make all people happy around him. Some of the things that he loved and brought happiness to him was being on the VFW Post 2031 Burial Detail. He played TAPS. Even though it is one of the toughest things to do, he loved doing it. He also loved going to visit the Vets at the VA Hospital in Salisbury, N.C. and play bingo with them and to swap stories back and forth with them.

David is survived by his wife of 4.5 yrs, Shirley J. Williamson of Cayce, S.C. His brother, Marshall Williamson and his wife “Donna” of Mt. Pleasant. A sister, Joyce Bouknight and her husband “ Rudy “ of Cayce, S.C.

David was predeceased in death by his parents, Oliver Steele Williamson and Lovlie Bryan Copeland.

David was loved by so many people & so much family and friends. Due to the Covid Crisis, a Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2021 with Full Military Honors at Fort Jackson National Cemetary.
