South Carolina Cremation Society 210 State Street West Columbia, SC 29169 800-758-9115 Landy Evans, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2018 in Columbia, SC. Affectionately known as “Doc”, he was one of eight children born in Norway, SC, to the late Van Evans Sr. and Lydia Tyler Evans. Doc was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County and worked as a concrete finisher before his eventual retirement. He was a quiet and reserved man who loved fishing, sharing stories, and telling witty jokes. Fishing was a pastime that he enjoyed year-round and he shared his hobby with many family and friends. From small ponds to big lakes to rolling rivers, he was an avid fisherman who personalized his own fishing lures. Doc was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Van Evans Jr., Cliff Evans and Matthew Evans; sisters Flossie Mae Evans Wrenn, Corrine Evans Scott and Mattie Evans Kemp. Left to honor Doc and cherish his memory are sons Edward (Patricia) Hart and Melvin (Cakethia) Hart of Norway, SC; Roger (Cheryl) Tyler of Buffalo, NY; Reginald Tyler of Orlando, FL; and Landy (April) Tyler of Delaware; sister Mary Evans Mack of Hopkins, SC; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special nieces Sharon Adams and Centeria Hill of Hopkins, SC, and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at in the Banquet Room at the Livingston Municipal Building, 5975 Savannah Highway, Livingston, SC, with the repast to follow. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work anytime. ~ Landy “Doc” Evans Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.southcarolinacremation.com To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Landy Evans, please visit our Tribute Store.
