John Alan Wiggins

1963 – 2020

John Alan Wiggins, 57, of Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2020.  He was born on April 7, 1963 in Pittsburgh, PA and spent most of his youth there before moving to the Columbia, SC area in the late 70's..

John graduated from Irmo High School in 1981.  He was an automotive mechanic for over 35 years doing the type of work that he loved.  Early in his career, his passion for cars led him to help build a race car that his team took to a track in the upstate to compete on most weekends.  Later in life, he became quite the barbeque chef and enjoyed smoking and grilling meats during the holidays for his family.   

He was the son of the late Roger and Joan (Bayne) Wiggins, and is survived by a brother, Gary Wiggins (Brenda); a sister, Linda King (Johnny), his nieces, nephews, great nephews, a great niece, and extended family. 

John will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving and caring man who loved life and to make others happy. 

A private memorial will be held for the family.   Donations may be made in his memory to the Oliver Gospel Mission, or to a charity of one’s choice.
