Obituary of Anne Grayson Freeman (Greene)

Anne Grayson Freeman (Greene), better known as “Maw Maw” to her family, passed away on September 2, 2020 after a hard fought battle with COVID-19. She was born on October 19,1938, in Chester, SC,where she graduated from Chester Senior High School and thenattended Cecil’s Business College in Spartanburg, SC.

Anne worked as a bridal consultant before retirement and enjoyed her time as a member of Shamrock Baptist Church where she was a choir member and served as Assistant Ladies Adult Sunday School teacher.In addition to her parents, John and Willie Mae Greene, she was predeceased by her late husband, James E. Freeman. Surviving are her four children, Kenneth R. White of Savannah, Katherine A. Jones of Bethune, Charlotte E. Truelove (Travis) of Fayetteville, and John S. White of Lugoff;  four grandchildren, David R. Caulder III (Maria), Sarah M. Sheheen, Kathryn N. Jones, and Lacey T. Carter (Chris); one great grandchild, Vivian U. Caulder; one sister, Martha Greene Carnes (Gary) of Rock Hill; one nephew Chris Carnes (Lisa); one niece Sherri Steele (Scott); three great nieces, Alena Carnes Grantham, Rachel Steele Forrester (Brandon), and Rebecca Steele; two great nephews Cameron Carnes (Paige), and Daniel Steele (Abi); two greatgreat nephews, Grayson Grantham, and Gavin Forrester; close family friend, Rob Brown; Freeman family members; and many beloved cousins.Her favorite Hymn was “Victory in Jesus” and she made the best dressing and squash casserole in the world.
