Obituary of Gregory Paul Glassmire

Gregory Glassmire passed away August 15, 2020 in West Columbia, SC.  He was born March 27, 1959 in Philadelphia, PA to George and Phyllis Glassmire.  Gregory, known as Greg to many, was the coolest uncle, and brother.  He was born and raised in PA, but moved to SC in 1987.

Greg is survived by his brother, Philip Glassmire, sisters Joann and Marybeth Glassmire, and a handful of nephews and nieces.  His niece, Amy Hensley (Jesse Frick), and his great niece Ariana Cahill, great nephews, Malaki Cahill, Landon Hensley, Joshua (JJ) Hensley and Dustin Hensley.  Greg has several cousins, aunts and uncles that survive him as well.

Greg was an avid KISS collector who loved rock & roll, and he loved his dogs, Snowball and Angel.  He was a carpenter for many years with Tyler Construction.  He worked hard, and always helped his family, no matter what.  He helped raise his niece Amy, and also helped raise his great nephew Malaki and niece, Ariana.  He didn't have to, but he wanted to.  He had a bonus niece Kaylee, who he loved as if she was his biological niece.  He loved his nieces and nephews and made sure they always knew that.  He was close to his siblings, but did create a special bond with Marybeth, his sister and his brother Philip.  They were always close, and Greg enjoyed their company.  He loved to call Marybeth and drive her crazy on the phone, and get her going, but all in good faith/character.  He loved his family. Greg was the best uncle and brother.  He loved making everyone laugh, and he did not have a filter, he would say exactly what he was thinking.  We loved that about him.  He enjoyed telling stories about "back in the day", and bragged about his tan, long hair, and that he still had his teeth, no dentures.  As we said, no filter.  He had moved back to South Carolina a few years back and created bonds and friendships with the neighbors, he never met a stranger and loved most people he met. He is greatly missed already, and we pray that he is at peace, and is no longer in any pain.  We love you, and we will always have you in our hearts, and mind.  Fly High Greg, with brother George and brother Ronnie!
