Obituary of Gennie Wilson Powell

Gennie Wilson Powell, 67, loving son, brother, husband, and father died on May 27, 2020.

Gennie was born April 26, 1953, in South Carolina to Sylvia Willa Mae Middleton and Gennie Wilson.Gennie was educated in the public schools of Richland School District One.

Gennie was united in marriage to Alethia Powell. From this union two children were born, Alberta Gwendolyn Powell and Anton Thaddeus Powell.

Gennie worked at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan for over 30 years.  He enjoyed playing cards with his grandkids, decorating his apartments, searching for good deals, and cooking for his family and friends.  He took pride in taking care of his vehicles by washing and waxing them.  He was kind and open to all.  He also enjoyed talking about his past and reminiscing about the ones he lost.

Gennie later re-married to April L. Powell.  From this union two children were gained, Kianna K. Davis and Gregory Ruff and one was born, Gennie Earl Wilson Powell.

Gennie was preceded in death by his mother - Sylvia Willa Mae Mitchell, his biological father - Gennie Wilson, his step-father - Thaddeus Dorsey Mitchell, his wife - Alethia Powell, and his daughter - Alberta Gwendolyn Powell.

Gennie is survived by his children - Anton Thaddeus (Wendy) Powell, Gennie Earl Wilson Powell, Kianna K. Davis, and Gregory Ruff; his ex-wife - April L. Powell; his sister - Najala Peoples; several grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends whose lives he filled with joy and laughter.
