Obituary of Bette Birdsong (Martin)

Bette Birdsong (Martin) came into this world on June 29, 1946 as a scrappy,
spirited soul, and she left this world on May 27, 2020 with every feisty
fiber in tact.  This force of nature was born in Rupert, Idaho to the late
Robert Kenneth and Mary Elizabeth Birdsong. She is survived by her beloved
partner William Wilson, daughter Molly Martin, grand pup Colby Frye, little
brother Kenny Birdsong, sister-in-law Vey Birdsong, nephew Rob Birdsong,
forever-friend Claire McLane, and her remaining sisters in NAWIC (National
Association of Women in Construction).

Anyone who knew Bette knows that she was a hard-working woman who’d often
don hardhat and muddy workboots while stomping construction sites as part
of her 30+ year commitment and service to Action Labor.  But, Bette also
played hard too, and as an avid music lover, she spent much of her younger
decades in pursuit of the splendors of live bluegrass music.  Moreover,
those familiar with Bette knew of her fierce devotion to the friends,
family, and creatures of her life.  In return, she was loved much by many
and will be dearly missed.  Her wishes were to be cremated, and her family
is planning a memorial on July 25th between 2-4:30 at Oak Grove Civic Center in Lexington.  In lieu of
flowers, friends who wish to do so may make a gift in honor of Bette to the
American Lung Association via their website.

Always and forever, Bette Birdsong will be sorely missed by those who knew
and loved her well.
