Mary Irene Meetze Kyzer 1924-2020

Irene Meetze Kyzer, 95 passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020. Born September 4, 1924 to Burley J. Meetze and Fronie E. Hook. Irene was small in stature but a huge personality, who never minced words or shied away from sharing her opinion. She loved collecting recipes, cookbooks, and spending time outdoors. However her greatest passion was caring for others. Irene realized this dream by becoming a nurse later in life. She was a nurse in Mayfield, Kentucky for many years before returning to the Columbia, SC area to nurse and care for many family members and friends.

In her final years, Irene (Nannie) was cared for by her grandson Todd and later by the healthcare professionals at the Lowman Home in White Rock. She was predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings and her daughter, Wilma Downs, but will be remembered and missed by her family members to include her grandson, Todd Minemier (Beth), niece, Terri Meetze (Karen), and daughter Mary Elizabeth Kennemore (Richard), grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
