Obituary of Pauline Anna Cox

Pauline Anna Cox, 93, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 after a long and active life. She was born in Salem Township, Michigan to Harry and Lena Lockwood and was the 10th of 12 children. She married Hodley Cox, the love of her life, while he was serving in the Air Force during WWll. She left the family farm with him after the war and lived in Michigan and eventually in Virginia until his death from cancer at an early age. She relocated to Columbia, South Carolina to be near family and remained here for 32 years. She was an active member of Seven Oaks Senior Program for over 25 years and enjoyed gardening, travel, going to movies, decorating, and dining out with friends and family. She had a happy and outgoing personality and was always interested in and enjoyed talking with others. She was a caregiver to several people over the years. Her strong, independent, and outspoken spirit was coupled with a genuine joie de vivre and she was rarely without a sense of humor or fun.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, parents, and all her siblings but will be remembered and missed by many loving nieces, nephews, and dedicated friends. A special thank you is extended to the staff of NHC-Lexington for the loving care given to her during her final months. A memorial gathering will be held at a later time. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
