Barbara Anne (Shipp) Englebert

Barbara Anne (Shipp) Englebert, age 83, of Columbia, S.C. died July 5, 2019.  Ms. Englebert is survived by her husband Troy Gene Englebert, daughter Rhonda Renee (Englebert) Quick, and granddaughters Lauren Amanda and Taylor Elaine Quick, all of Columbia, as well as beloved nieces and nephews.  Ms. Englebert is preceded in death by her parents Earla and Coraleen Shipp and sister Helen (Shipp) Holt (Jimmy).  

 Ms. Englebert was born in Tuscaloosa, Al. December 3, 1935.  She graduated from Brookwood HS in 1954.  After marrying in 1957, Ms. Englebert lived in California, Illinois, Connecticut, Alabama and finally South Carolina.  She worked in the food industry and restaurant management her whole life including places like Horwath’s in Chicago, the University of Connecticut Faculty House, Columbia’s Gatehouse Restaurant and the Columbia Country Club from which she retired in 1998.  After retirement, Ms. Englebert stayed busy chauffeuring her granddaughters, attending their events, and enjoying years of family pets including the most recent Finn, Boone and Bama. 

 The family would like to thank Ms. Englebert’s doctors and the Providence Hospital nurses and staff, especially in the Intensive Care Unit. 

 There will be no visitation or memorial service at this time.  A memorial will be held at a later date in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

 South Carolina Cremation Society is assisting the family.
