Obituary of Karen Sue Londo

It is with great sadness that her family shares the passing of Karen Sue Londo, 75, of West Columbia, SC on Monday, March 11, 2024.

Karen was born August 23, 1948, to Marvin and Marjorie Ely of Morenci, MI where she graduated from Morenci High School in 1966. Always a Spartan, Karen attended Michigan State University before graduating in nursing from Nazareth College. Karen was a lifelong learner, completing her master’s degree of nursing from the University of Michigan.

Karen was preceded in death by the love of her life, Douglas W. Londo. During their 52 years of loving marriage, Karen and Doug raised three children, Jeffery (Julie) Londo, Marcel (Bradley) Martin, and Amanda (Justin) Stroud and three grandchildren, Judah (Brooklin), Lucas and Adelaide.

Raising their family in Canton, MI, Karen and Doug were blessed with lifelong friendships within their Mayfair Community. Leaving the snow behind, Karen and Doug moved to South Carolina in 2001 where Karen was able to retire from Self Regional Hospital in 2012.

Karen loved being on the water, reading, playing cards, knitting, traveling, returning to Michigan to spend time with her family and passionately following college sports, but there was nothing she loved more than being a wife, friend, mother and grandma.

She showed kindness and strength in everything she did, especially throughout her 40-year mother/baby nursing career.

Her death comes as a great shock and is gravely felt by her family, friends and countless others who loved her. The family appreciates the support and outpouring of love during this difficult time.

A small graveside service will be held later this summer in Michigan.
