Obituary of Joan Taylor Woodward

Joan Taylor Woodward, 89, of Columbia, S.C., died at home, surrounded by members of her family on February 25, 2024.

She was born in Greenwood, S.C., in 1934, to Lessie and Loy Taylor, and grew up in the Columbia neighborhood of Heathwood, where she attended Dreher high School, before going on to earn an associate degree at the University of South Carolina. Joan worked in the Richland County School District 2 for many years before her retirement.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert E. Woodward and beloved niece, Corrie Harley and is survived by her children;  Keith Woodward (Carol), Robert Woodward (Patricia), and Dana Kinlaw (Allen), her four grandchildren; Charlotte Robertson (Keith), Ezekiel Woodward, Rachel Woodward (Robert) and Adair Taylor Kinlaw (Dana) , her three great grandchildren; Ryker Smith, Rena Smith (Rachel) and Vista Joan Robertson (Charlotte), her sister, Marie Harley (Rodney) and niece, Katie Blanchard (Marie).  

Joan’s memorial service will be held on Thursday March 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 N Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29206.
