Obituary of Jerome (Rusty) David Bonnett

Jerome (Rusty) David Bonnett born October 8, 1950 passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024 at Generations of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.

Rusty was a commercial property construction tradesman working all over South Carolina. Some of his most notable projects include the expansion of the upper decks at Williams Brice Stadium, the construction of the Palmetto Center Building and Kiawah Island developments.

Rusty was also a member of several Christian motorcycle clubs and often volunteered his time at Pelion Senior Center with activities like meals-on-wheels.

Rusty is survived by his wife, Tawana Smith Bonnett, daughter from a previous marriage Teri Simmons Brown (Victor), Teri’s child Sophia Elizabeth Simmons, and grandchildren Mylah and Ryleigh Simmons.  Rusty has a stepson Toby Smith (Julie) and their children Emma, Rachel, Rhett and Grant; a daughter-in-law Amanda Bonnett and her children Patience and Layla.

Preceding Rusty in death are Matthew Simmons, Mack Bonnett and Mack Bonnett, JR.

There will be a graveside service on Sunday, February, 25, 2024 at 12:00 PM (immediately following their Sunday service) at Spring Branch Baptist Church, 590 Centerwood Rd, Windsor, SC 29856

Memorials may be made to Generations of Batesburg-Leesville in Rusty’s honor.
