Obituary of Richard "Rick" J. Detore
Richard “Rick” J. Detore, 59, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 14, 1964 in Greensburg, PA to Barbara A. Detore and Richard F. Detore.
Rick was known for his humor and kindness. His impact on those around him was profound and he was truly one of a kind. Rick could light up a room with his smile or a witty remark.
He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1982. Rick honorably served in the United States Navy from 1992 to 1994. He was an employee of the United States Postal Service for 26 years. He was dedicated to his work and made lasting contributions throughout his career.
Outside of his professional life, Rick had a deep love for spending time at the beach and with his children. He enjoyed fishing and often shared this passion with friends and family.
Rick is survived by his two loving children: Samantha Detore and Nicholas Detore. He is preceded in death by his father: Richard “Dick” F. Detore. He is survived by his mother: Barbara A. Detore, and his siblings: Anthony Detore (Robyn), Joseph Detore, Sharon Detore, and Michael Detore (Jennifer), his nephew: Anthony Detore, and his niece: Madelyn Detore.
A Memorial Service Mass will be celebrated on February 17, 2024 at 10:00 am at Saint Florian Church, 4263 PA- 981, Mount Pleasant, PA 15666. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate the life of Richard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/PFFTribute/RichardDetore1), which held special significance to Richard.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the support and condolences during this difficult time.
