Obituary of Geraldine Louise Trout Rose

Geraldine Louise Trout Rose, age 89, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Known as Gerry, she was born in Newark, Ohio to Fred and Deloris Trout. She lived in Newark followed by Kansas City, Kansas where Gerry graduated from Washington High School in 1952. She returned to Newark, OH where she worked at Owens Corning Fiberglas. Marriage then led her to Savannah, Georgia followed by a transfer to Orangeburg, South Carolina. She worked in Orangeburg for Wilbur B. Driver/Amax Specialty Metals in Purchasing followed by her final career in International Marketing with Mayer Wildman/Mayer Industries where she retired. Following retirement, she moved to St. Matthews to be near her daughter, then to Columbia, South Carolina where she settled into retirement by joining the Red Hat Society and making many wonderful friends. She was an avid supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

She leaves behind her daughter, Michelle Stichter of Swansea, South Carolina, son, Jeffrey “Jeff” Stichter of Savannah, Georgia, stepdaughters; Vickie Reynard of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, Tina Williams of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Tammy Reynard of Hebron, Ohio, and step-son, Richard “ Rick” Reynard of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, as well as an “adopted” granddaughter, Zoe Allen of Columbia, South Carolina. She is preceded in death by her oldest son, William “Bill” Stichter, Jr., her brother William “Bill” Trout, sisters, Pamela “Pam” Cygan and Delores “Dee Dee” Owens, her parents, an “adopted” granddaughter, Libby Werner, and many other family, friends, and two special dogs.

Thanks go out to the many friends and support staff who brought her joy and emotional support in the final years and days of her life. Words she wanted to share with others were, “I’ve gone to have a glorious homecoming with my Lord and Savior”.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1:00 pm on March 2, 2024 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 307 Longtown Rd, Ridgeway, SC 29130. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the non-profit organization, Pawmetto Lifeline, 1273 Bower Pkwy., Columbia, South Carolina, 29212. Her internment with her son, “Bill” will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, Ohio in early June of this year.
