Obituary of Clara Elaine Lankford Fralix

Clara Elaine Lankford Fralix of Lexington, SC passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at the age of 70. On December 19, 2023, Elaine suffered a stroke and was hospitalized until her passing.

Elaine was born on April 10, 1953 to Garland Eugene Lankford and Minnie Drew Lankford. She was the youngest of four siblings and grew up in North Charleston, SC. She graduated from North Charleston High School in 1971 and was named senior class superlative “Most Whitty.” In 1980, she met Wendell A. Fralix and they wed in 1981, going on to have three children, Callie, Morgan and Wendell, Jr.

Elaine had many jobs during her working years, all of which she took pride and joy in. Most notably, she worked as a factory worker for Dupont, a dispatcher for the Charleston harbor and a kindergarten teacher. After she stopped working, she continued to volunteer as a chaplain for the women’s prison and for hospice.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, bird watching, gardening and vacationing with her family. She loved antiques and collecting different types of bird eggs. She collected trinkets and displayed them in a shadowbox in her home.

Above everything that Elaine enjoyed and took pride in was her love of God and the Bible. Elaine was a devoted Christian and considered a prayer warrior among friends and loved ones. Her love of God was evident in almost every area of her life. She started a bible study for her children and the children in their neighborhood, she taught Sunday school and took part in prayer chains and outreach ministries.

Elaine is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Garland (Gwyn-surviving). She is survived by her husband, Wendell, her children; Callie, Morgan (Alexander), and Wendell Jr. and her grandchildren; Nikolas, Mya, Dean and Finn (unborn), her sister; Donna (Jim-passed) and brother; Clayton (Rosie).
