Obituary of Glenda Jean Price Goings

Glenda Jean Price Goings, 59 of Blythewood SC, died Friday, January 5, 2024. Born in Columbia, South Carolina on February 17, 1964, she was the daughter of Mr. Glenn “Billy” William Price and Mrs. Kathern Ann Ivey Price.

Glenda was more than just a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she was the life of the party, and she brought the cake, too! The care and effort she put into every confection she baked was a true testament to the nurturer she was. She was the spark that ignited joy in every gathering, and a hug from Glenda could warm your heart like no other. Glenda's presence was like a burst of fireworks on a dark night, and her sharp wit kept everyone on their toes...we will all miss her Glenda-isms such as 'I wouldn’t hurt you for a hundred dollars...as bad as I need the money’, and the classic she stole from her brother, 'if you are gonna be dumb, you better be tough' and 'I operate somewhere between Jesus take the wheel and I wish a heifa would' were routine sayings of hers. She was impeccable with her timing of these quips, and she would easily have the whole room laughing within minutes. Her impish smile and infectious laughter turned ordinary moments into extraordinary ones.

Glenda had a keen intuition about people and had a gift for validating and uplifting others. She always seemed to know when those around her needed a kind touch, and she was unapologetic with her compliments; always pointing out a person’s best attributes. This allowed her to live and work her passion in the beauty industry as the owner/operator of her own nail and esthetics salon, Nails and Skin Care by Glenda for 25 years. She worked hard to make all of those around her feel beautiful, never realizing we always paled in the beauty of who she was, inside and out.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her beloved daughter, Misty Nicole, granddaughters, Lillian Elizabeth Rawls and Mattie Kathern Goings, sister, Debbie Ann Kinard (Ricky), brother, Glenn Monroe Price (Dana), niece, Kayla Cotney (Bryan), nephew, David Jerrill Kinard (Elizabeth), uncles, James O’Neal Price (Judy), John Wesley Price (Donna), and so many special cousins. Glenda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Glenn William Price, Jr. and Kittie Sue Hipp Price and maternal grandparents, Findley Monroe Gilbert and Leila “Guit” Lillian Judy Gilbert; and her aunt, Patricia Sue Holecek; and her dearest love, Mark.
