Obituary of Charles Allen Hiott
Charles Allen “Al” Hiott, 65, passed away at his home in Lexington, SC on November 30, 2023.
Al was born on July 31, 1958 in Rome, GA. While attending West Rome High School, he discovered the alto, tenor and baritone saxophones. He played and competed in Drum and Bugle Corp as a multi-instrumentalist. This experience made him appreciate all types of music and he would go on to become an avid guitarist and mandolinist. After school, he served in the Air Force and in the National Guard. He performed maintenance on B52 Bombers and was an Air Traffic Controller. After serving in the military, he began a long and successful career in engineering focusing mainly on CAD Management. In 2020, after many training hours and practice, he piloted his first solo flight in a glider aircraft. Al was also a Honda Gold Wing enthusiast, and once rode from Georgia to Canada and back with his friends. He loved his family, his dogs, floating on boats and building and flying model aircraft. He was a jovial spirit and a kindred soul to everyone.
Al is survived by his wife of 20 years, Terri Hiott; two brothers, Timothy Hiott and Hamilton Hiott; his daughter, Nicole Hodges (Jason); his son, Tony Jackson; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; his brothers and sisters in-law, Dave and Margaret Alewine and Tom and Jill Alewine.
