Obituary of Joyce M. Kistler

Joyce M. Kistler, of West Columbia was called home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2023, after a long illness.

Joyce was born on December 11, 1953, to the late Ralph Alvin Montgomery and Katherine Stephenson Montgomery in Columbia, SC.

Joyce retired as a registered nurse with The SC State Mental Health Department with over 30 years of care and devotion.

Joyce was very kind and compassionate and a loving friend to all that knew her.

Joyce was preceded in death by both of her parents.

She is survived by her brothers, Ralph Alvin Montgomery, Jr. of West Columbia, Russell Montgomery (Suzanne), niece, Katie Montgomery, nephew, Ben Montgomery all of Greenville.

In addition to family, she is survived by two lifelong best friends, who she loved dearly, Ann Harmon and Carolyn Rhodes; they were all friends for over 40 years.

A special thank you to all of those who helped care for her, Hands and Hearts home health care staff, Julie Narang, McKenzie Dampier, Christina Drawdy and Kathleen Drawdy, who was her caregiver for over eight years, but most importantly, her friend. All who met her as a caregiver, quickly became her friend. Joyce will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

A memorial service of her life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Woodridge Memorial Park Mausolem Chapel, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
