Robert Daniel Davis

January 17, 1940 – September 6, 2023

Bob Davis, 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family on the evening of September 6, 2023. Bob was born January 17, 1940, in Walterboro, South Carolina to the late Charles H. and Willie Mae Sprouse Davis.

Bob Davis moved from South Carolina to Norfolk, Virginia in 1956, and graduated from Granby High School, where he met his sweetheart Marie Riccio and married on July 2, 1960, residing in Virginia Beach for 23 years and spent the last 45 years in his home state of South Carolina.

Bob is survived by his wife Marie, children, Robert D. Davis Jr., of Swansea SC, Constance Davis of Lexington SC, and Natalie VonRautenfeld (Hans) of Fairway, Kansas, grandchildren Shanna Farrar (Tim), Jeffery, Jackson, and Denholm Davis, Brandon Corbitt (Kate), and Christopher VonRautenfeld, great-grandchildren Matthew Whetsell, Dalton Corbitt, Timothy Farrar and Delia Corbitt, expected February 2024.

Bob is also survived by his brothers Charles (Pat), Denny (Joyce), Tommy (Polly) Davis and sister Linda Davis Taylor

Bob was the son-in-law of the late Anthony and Mary Riccio and is also survived by his in-laws Angelo (Kim), Anthony (Susan)Riccio, and Annette (Keith)Tuttle and was loved by many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a Master Electrician and started Davis Electric Company of Virginia Beach, then located in South Carolina where he retired from Gregory Electric. Upon retirement, he opened a chain of video rental stores. His grandson Denholm always said he knew so many residents in Lexington County he should have been Mayor.

Bob enjoyed the challenge of golf, making 2 Holes-in-One. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, shrimping, crabbing on the sands of Edisto Beach, cooking, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.

Bob was a jack of all trades and loved to tinker with his tools in the garage making wood pieces, games, and toys for his grands and great-grands. Friends and family came to him for advice on carpentry, electrical, and woodworking.

Wherever he went he always had his good luck Buckeye in his pocket.

A special thank you to all the healthcare professionals who cared for him throughout his illness.
