Obituary of Nicholas Snead Welborn

Nicholas Snead Welborn, 35, died on August 31, 2023 peacefully with his wife by his side holding his hand.

Nick was born on April 28, 1988 in Anderson, South Carolina to Hugh and Linda Welborn.  He was a high school graduate of Camden Military Academy and college graduate of Anderson University.  An avid soccer player for both schools, Nick enjoyed being competitive and a team player!  He made several lasting friendships with childhood friends, fellow classmates and teammates and it truly showed with the outpouring of love and support from friends near and far leading up to his untimely death. He never met a stranger and always wanted to make sure everyone was safe and happy and was always willing to lend an ear no matter what problems he may have had going on himself.  He was passionate about his armed security position with Allied Universal where he made an impact on both his co-workers and individuals he guarded.  On Saturdays, he worked at the Mast General Store in the outdoors department and called it his "fun job".  He said he would never quit working there even if it was only one day a week because every employee there was family.

When Nick was 21, he moved to Amelia Island, Florida to embark on a career with a company he started called Welborn Enterprises. While in Florida, he made several lasting friendships and partnerships with several of the locals. A few even came to see him in Columbia while he was sick.  In 2019, he moved to Columbia, South Carolina where shortly after, he met his wife April. They knew the instant they met, they were meant for each other. After a year of dating, Nick called his future mother-in-law late one night as they were both night owls and said that he loved her daughter very much and would like her blessing for April's hand in marriage.  Nick and April were married on February 20, 2022 in a small intimate ceremony on the dock of their neighborhood lake. It was a bright sunny day and was perfect. They resided in Columbia with their two dogs.

Nick is survived by his wife, April Allison Welborn and their precious dogs, Minnie Pearl and Lelu, his parents, Hugh Wingo Welborn, Sr. and Linda Murphy Welborn, his brother, Hugh Wingo Welborn Jr, his mother-in-law, Sigrun "Siggie" Allison, sister-in-law, Robin Allison Hirst (Peter) and nephew, Ryan Alan Hirst.

A very special thank you to the nurses and staff of the 8th Floor West Wing at Prisma Health Richland and to the most compassionate Hospice Team who helped guide Nick and April through his transition. And a special thank you to all of the friends and family of Nick and April's who took time out of their busy schedules to come visit Nick in the hospital and sent tons of encouragement and prayers.

A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be set at a later date.
