In Loving Memory of Brenda Lorraine Polk

Brenda Lorraine Polk, beloved daughter of the late Dennis Colvin Jr. and Betty Lorraine Colvin, was called home on July 16, 2023, at 2:18 pm at the MUSC Columbia South Carolina Hospital with her daughter, Latia Lee and son-in-law, Kevin Lee by her side.

She was born on December 28, 1959, and lived a vibrant and fulfilling life in Pittsburgh, PA for 63 yrs. She married her husband Robert Polk, then relocated to Columbia, South Carolina where she lived with her daughter, Latia and son-in-law Kevin, during her last year of her life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Brenda attended McKelvy Elementary School, and Fifth Avenue High School by way of Brashear High School where she received her diploma. She then married the love of her life, Robert Polk and they had three beautiful daughters. As time went by, Brenda furthered her education at Connelly Trade School as a culinary artist and became a welcomed addition as one of the best creative chefs.

Brenda was a devoted and caring mother to her three daughters whom she leaves to mourn: Latia R. Lee (Kevin Lee), Geraldina J. Polk, and April C. Polk. She adored her grandchildren: Brianna, Brian, Stevon, Javon, Jaszmyne, Byron, Ariyah, and Avryonna. She also had the joy of knowing her great-grandchild, Keh'Lani.

Brenda also leaves to mourn her siblings: Lydia M. Allen (Tarrik Allen), Dennis Colvin III, Geraldine E. Prysock, Tina L. Colvin-Squair (Les Squair Sr.), Alex Colvin (Valerie Colvin), and Ruthann Conley (Sidney Conely). Their family ties were strong and enduring.

Brenda's talents were multifaceted, as she excelled in various fields. As an awesome chef, she delighted family and friends with her culinary creations, leaving a lasting impression on their taste buds. Her skills as a seamstress and baker were unmatched, bringing beauty and sweetness into the lives of those around her.  She also had the greenest of thumbs that could bring a helpless plant back to life.  Her gardening skills were impeccable!

A gifted singer, Brenda's voice resonated with soulful and spiritual melodies that touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of hearing her perform. But it didn't stop there; she had a passion for dance and could be found gracefully moving on the dance floor at the cabaret, bringing joy and rhythm to every step.

Brenda had a flair for fashion and was indeed a Fashionista. Her unique style and creativity led her to design her own clothes, making her a trendsetter among her peers.

Brenda was also a child of God who knew the Lord as her Lord and Savior.  She attended church services when she could at Petra International Ministries in East Hills, PA. She loved hearing the word of God being taught. She also loved hearing the choir sing.

Brenda Lorraine Polk will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her warm smile, loving nature, and extraordinary talents have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in her life's journey.

As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the wonderful memories she leaves behind. May her spirit live on in the hearts of her loved ones, forever cherished and remembered.

Rest in peace, dear Brenda. You have touched our lives in ways that words cannot express, and your memory will be treasured eternally.
