Obituary of Gary Winton

Gary Winton passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 following complications from a motor vehicle accident on February 3, 2023.

His greatest joy was being with family and spending time outdoors. He spent many years in Alaska, fishing, camping, and skiing. In more recent years, he spent his spare time clearing land and building his dream home in Lexington County, SC with his wife Lisa and their two horses Cal and Ryder.

Having retired in 2021, Gary’s professional life was spent helping people as an Optician and later a Hearing Aid technician; his patients and colleagues adored him.

There was nothing Gary could not turn his hand to, as he could build or fix pretty much anything. A true lover of food and BBQ, he could often be found out by his smoker, rain or shine, with a drink in hand. He was also a wonderful storyteller and will be missed by many around the world.

He was a wonderful and doting father and grandfather, and he drew great pleasure from helping others. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa and daughters, Theresa and Christina, his brothers, James, and Steve and his sister, Carolyn. He will be dearly missed by his three grandchildren, Isaac, Payton and Katlyn.

So we are always courageous, although we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith not by sight. Yet we are courageous, and we would rather leave the body and go home to the Lord.Therefore we aspire to please him, whether we are at home or away.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2350 Augusta Hwy, Lexington, SC 29072.
