Obituary of Janet Brown Parkin

Janet B Parkin, 70, of Irmo, South Carolina passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, at home surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer. Janet was born October 17, 1952 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to HC “Pat” Brown and Ermalee Brown.

Janet’s early years were spent in Farson, Wyoming where her parents farmed. Janet moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in the summer of 1969 where she met the love of her life Richard. Janet attended Skyline High School where she graduated in 1971. Janet married Richard O. Parkin June 30, 1972 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Janet spent 29 years working for US West Communications in various departments. Janet lived life to her fullest every day with whatever adventure that would come her way from showing horses, coaching sports, dancing the night away as long as she didn’t get into too much trouble (but a little was ok.) 

Janet passed her love of all things Christmas and music to her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Janet was blessed with three boys, Daniel A. Parkin (Lori), Andrew O. Parkin (Anjel), Jeremy I. Parkin, two daughters-in-law, Lori Parkin and Anjel Parkin who she would tell any who would listen they were the daughters she always wanted. Janet has seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and Barkley the Beagle.

Janet was proceeded in death by sisters, Kaye and Gay Brown, father, H.C. “Pat” Brown, mother, Ermalee Stout.

Janet is survived by her husband, three children, seven grandchildren,one great-grandchild, and a sister, Patricia LeAnn Brown Zdunich.

Janet moved to Nevada to care for her mother, Ermalee Brown in 2010 where she resided until 2022 when she followed her grandchildren to South Carolina.

Janet passed with her family in attendance.

Janet, you are forever loved and forever missed by your family and friends. We know that you are watching over us now as you always have.
