Obituary of Steven Richard Maness
Steven “Steve” Richard Maness, age 68, formerly of Parlin, suddenly passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at his home in Columbia, SC. Born and raised in Far Rockaway, Queens, NY to the late Joseph and Toby Maness, Steve moved to Sayreville more than 40 years ago, where he resided until relocating to South Carolina six years ago. After graduating from Sayreville High School, Steve attended Stockton University where he received a degree in Environmental Health.
Steve was known as the funny guy, always finding a way to make his friends and family laugh. He loved playing his Rickenbacker bass in his band “Ground Zero”. He loved reading, was an avid NY Rangers, NY Yankees, and NY Giants fan, and was an ice hockey goaltender. He will be missed by the many who he knew throughout his life.
Steve is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Corey and Melissa Maness of Lawrenceville, and Courtney and Jonathan Correa of Parlin; their mother, Debbie Maness of Parlin; his beloved grandchildren, Sophia, Nathan, and Julian; and his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Maryrose Maness of Clifton.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Steve's name to The Heart Foundation at www.theheartfoundation.org.
