Obituary of Ivan Lavern Dennis, Sr.

Ivan Lavern Dennis Sr., 89, born on June 25, 1933, passed away peacefully at Lexington Medical Center on June 8, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was a member of the church of the Nazarene in Columbia, SC. He was preceded by his wife and love of his life, Arlene Dennis, his daughters, Denise Weber and Melissa Nuovo. He is survived by his son, Ivan L. Dennis, Jr. (Doris) and his daughter, Vivian Marion, two sisters, Joyce and Carol, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ivan once worked at Bob Bennett Ford as a body man. He loved his family so much; he was a very faithful servant of God. Always preaching the Word to anyone who would listen. He loved the Lord. He loved to work with tools in his garage, building something with wood. Ivan always thought of others, giving to others instead of himself.

Though he is gone to be with our Lord and Savior and to reunite with his beautiful wife, two daughters and other family members in heaven, he will always and forever be missed, loved and remembered as a loving husband, great Dad and grandpa.

Those who knew Ivan knew he didn’t like to be fussed over, so in lieu of a funeral, you can honor him by giving to the Dementia society, or any of your favorite charities in his name. Or you may plant a tree in his memory.
