Obituary of Merle Kenny Kohli

Merle Kenny Kohli, 93, passed away on June 5, 2023, in Chapin, SC. He was born on May 26, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, to the late parents Jerold and Hazel.

Merle was a dedicated husband to Mary Belle Kohli (Sprague) for 71 years and a great dad to his daughter, Pam Cooper (husband, John Cooper) and son, Michael Kohli (wife, Joyce Barger). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda and Jeremy, and great-grandchildren, Gabe and Maddox. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley and Jerry, and sister, Kay.

Merle will be remembered as a friend to all with a real sense of humor. He could fix almost anything and if not, he would learn how. Merle was an active member of the Scouts, Masonic (32nd Degree), Shriners, Eastern Star, and the Chapin Methodist Church, always giving 110% in whatever he did. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and shrimper, and enjoyed spending time outdoors.

Merle graduated from Spencerville High School in Ohio and later served in the Ohio National Guard and the Army. He worked at NCR for forty years, with a year in the middle as Maintenance Supervisor for a high-rise apartment complex, which was his favorite job.

A Memorial Service will be held at Chapin UMC, 415 Lexington Ave, Chapin, SC 29036 on Saturday, June 10, 2023 with visitation at 11:00 am and service at 12:00 pm.
