Obituary of Edward Williams

Edward “Scott” Williams, husband for 39 years to Debbie Williams, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at his home in South Congaree, with Debbie lovingly holding his hand.

Scott was born in North, South Carolina on February 6, 1952. He was the son of the late E.N. “ Red” Williams and the late Willie Mae Chavis. He was also predeceased by one sister, Miriam Manos.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie -“Chink”, the love of his life, and children, Betsy Bouknight(Chip), Lee Williams(Kristi), April Lutz(Jacob), and John “JW” Williams(Emily). Scott was affectionately called “Pappy” by his grandchildren Cassidie Steen-“Kizzie”, Grayson Steen-“Frick”, Garrett Steen-“Frack”, Carson Hollis-“Kit”, Haylee Williams-“Alex”, Holden Williams-“HEW”, Hannah Williams-“HEW2”, Devin Koellner-“Devil”, Riley Koellner-“Turtle”, Jackson Day-“Hammer”, Remington Lutz-“Rifle”, Memphis Lutz-“MC”, Penelope Williams-“PM” and his first great grandchild, Baby Mack-“The Nose”.

In addition to those listed above, Scott considered Josh and Cheyenne Shumpert and their children, Miyah-“Skye”, Mason-“Jar”, River-“Rat” and Raine-“Storm”, his children as well.

Scott is also survived by his siblings, Wanda Jeffcoat (Elvin), Phillip Williams (Joyce), Margie Bryant (Tony), Farrell Williams (Becky) and Art Manos, along with many, many nieces and nephews.

After learning the electrical trade by working with his dad, he graduated from North High School and OC Tech, where he earned his degree as a Master’s Electrician. He later founded Scott Electric, working for numerous contractors. He eventually retired due to health issues, but never gave up his passion for the profession.

For many years, Scott enjoyed playing softball and golf. He was an avid Clemson fan. He enjoyed spending time with his numerous friends, PDQ Breakfast Crew and “The Rejects”. His favorite radio station was The Big DM. His choice in music was one of the very few things he and Debbie never agreed on. He had his own menu item, The Scott Salad, at The South Congaree House of Pizza. He rode his Harley until his health no longer allowed him to. Scott gave most everyone he knew a nickname. He always had a smile, a joke, and never met a stranger.

His family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers of MSA Home Health Hospice.
