Obituary of James Lee McCall

James Lee McCall passed away January 22, 2023, at the age of 77. He was born October 7, 1945 in Clarendon County, SC, and was the son of the late Alex McCall and Gladys Anderson Felkel from Sumter, SC.

Mr. McCall lived most of his life in Sumter where he worked for Sumter Machinery Company and retired after 20 years of service. After retirement, he moved to Hopkins, SC with his sister and her family. Together they enjoyed the simple life of visiting Cherokee Casino and playing the Pick 3 with his lucky numbers, 444 or 777. He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many and he will be missed by them all.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Lee McCall (Lisa) of Charlotte, NC, his sister, Carolyn M. Jones of Hopkins, SC, his brother, Jerry McCall of Sumter, SC, and a very special niece, Tracy Lynn Tice “Tinkerbell”; a number of nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews he nicknamed so fondly and loved very much.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brothers, Jackie Holiday and Johnny McCall.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held on March 4, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Pilgrim’s Way Baptist Church, 6081 Old Leesburg Road, Hopkins, SC 29061.  The family will be receiving visitors in the Fellowship Hall after the service.
