Obituary of Robert Morrissey

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Morrissey, a loving father, and grandfather. He lived a life filled with passion for building cars and spending time with his furry best friend, an English Sheepdog named Bluey.

Robert was always eager to take on new projects. His love for cars was evident in every creation that he built with his own two hands, and he never hesitated to share his knowledge and skills with those around him. He retired as a Senior Master Tech from Lincoln Technical Institute in Union, NJ.

Robert was a man who lived life to the fullest and never took anything too seriously. He was always surrounded by friends and family who loved and admired his work and good humor. He often joked around about everything under the sun, and faced fear head-on with humor.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed spending time with his dog, going for car rides around Lake Murray, and tinkering with projects in his garage. He had a deep appreciation for the beauty of South Carolina and was always eager to share his love for the area with others.

Sadly, Robert was taken from us too soon after a long battle with COPD and a short battle with an infection. Despite this, he will be remembered for his love of life, his passion for building cars, and his unwavering devotion to his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Erin Ruiz, son-in-law, Irving Ruiz, and granddaughter, Leilani Ruiz, who will always cherish their memories of him. He recounted fond memories of his cousin, Nancy Tucker D’Atrio and her husband, Gary D’Atrio, who always opened their home to him for the holidays.

Erin, Irving and Leilani were able to spend time with him just before he passed. He told Erin “Go live your best life, baby girl,” and she’s committed to seeing that statement through, while spreading his ashes throughout various trips around the world.

Some of his frequent one-liners were: “Let’s blow this taco stand, It’s freezin’ wheezin’, Let’s do this Brutus, and You’re busier than a one-legged man in a butt- kicking competition,”

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace, and may the memories of his life bring comfort to those who loved him.
