Obituary of Marilyn Victoria Scott

Marilyn Victoria (Orosz) Scott of Irmo, South Carolina passed away January 17, 2022, at the age of eighty-six. She is survived by her two children, Jana Gholston of Largo, Florida and Gregg (Johnna) Gholston of Chapin, South Carolina. Besides her children, she is survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was born September 15, 1935, in Gary Indiana. She attended Lew Wallace High School but is a 1953 graduate of Calumet High School. She married Richard Neal Gholston September 18, 1953. Marilyn worked for the Bell Systems until she had Jana and became a full-time homemaker. After her children were grown, she went into sales and found much success. Being a genuine people person and born salesperson she won many awards for high volume sales in jewelry at JC Penney until she retired in 2001.

In 2012, Marilyn married Richard Arthur Scott and truly lived her best life with him. They attended Open Door Church in Noblesville. She was active in an outreach ministry that visited assisted living facilities and nursing homes. She loved to read, paint and crochet, crocheting blankets for both babies and those enduring cancer treatments. Marilyn had a witty sense of humor and worked to see the best in life’s circumstances. She was fun and feisty and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

No memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when the service is scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations to be sent to the Air Force Aid Society (https://afas.org/).
