Obituary of Oral E Cooper, Jr

Jay Cooper, 79, of Columbia SC, died November 19, 2021, at home in his beloved wife’s arms.

He was born and raised in Kentucky, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a CID Investigator with the 138th Military Police Unit at Ft Jackson, South Carolina, where he met his future wife.

In addition to his wife MaryJane, Jay leaves behind two sisters, Jannie (Bob) Spurlock and Cheryl (Ronnie) Jones, of Oak Hill, Ohio; and sister-in-law Fran (Skuby) Skubak of SC. Also, he leaves behind children Teresia, Michael, and Sean (Carol), and Grandchild Crystal, in addition to several cousins and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oral and Vera Watson Cooper.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at South Carolina Oncology Associates, and Heart Hospice for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to an animal charity of one’s choice
