Obituary of Glennie Robinson, Sr.

Glennie "Rob" Robinson Sr., 69, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on September 2, 2021. He was born on August 10, 1952 in Tarboro, North Carolina to Arthur Hilliard and Maniza (Robinson) Cole.

Glennie earned his college education from Edgecombe Community College, Central Texas College, Almeda University, and Midlands Technical College. Glennie also joined the Navy and later retired from the Army with a degree in Culinary Arts. He continued practicing Culinary Arts, internationally, in his civilian career and became the Project Manager supporting Wamar Support Services, The American-Iraqi Solutions Group, KBR, and DynCorp International. 

Glennie's zest and over-standing for life will be remembered with so much love down generations to come. His family and friends will continue to honor him by living their lives to the fullest. The simplest pleasures in life, such as fishing, traveling, and late night rides to Krispy Kreme with his wife, brought the greatest joy to Glennie. You could always catch him watching the current news, the history channel, or the Food Network. Rob leaves behind a legacy that can't be erased.

Glennie is survived in love by his wife, Delores Green Robinson; daughters, Glenda and Bianca Robinson; sons, Ryan Washington and Glennie Robinson Jr.; stepdaughter, Princess Corley and husband Christopher; and granddaughter Amiya. 

He also leaves behind his sisters, Gwendolyn Giles and husband Leonard, Juanita Westry, Joyce Ann Berth, Angela Mays Hayes and husband Danny; brothers Quincy Robinson and wife Angelene, Andrew Benbow and wife Patricia, William Benbow and wife Patricia, Melvin Benbow and wife Desira.

Glennie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deborah Benbow; brothers Curtis Harrell, Leon Sherrod, and Morris Mays. 

Interment Services will be held at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC 29229 on October 1, 2021 at 3:00 PM with Reverend Adelia Davis officiating and a tribute by Glennie Robinson Jr. Please arrive no later than 2:30 PM. 

The family will receive friends at Seven Oaks Park, 200 Leisure Ln., Columbia, SC 29210 following the Interment Service. 

Floral arrangements may be sent to the Robinson's residence at 155 Piney Grove Rd., Columbia, SC 29210.
