Obituary of Harvey Lee Renfro

Harvey “Lee” Renfro, age 64, passed away March 18, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina after a short, month long illness.

Born on January 7, 1957 to Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Renfro; Lee was a 1975 graduate of Cocke County High School in Newport, TN. He married the love of his life, his sweetheart, Patty Smith, in 1982. They enjoyed 38 wonderful years of marriage. She was affectionately called “My Bride”.

Lee was a hard working, knowledgeable and faithful associate of Walmart for 28 years before his retirement in 2018. During Lee’s downtime, you could always find him with his family enjoying fishing and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing everywhere, but a few of his favorites were the salt water of the Gulf, the rivers of Tennessee and West Virginia, the lakes of South Carolina, and the cool waters of northern Maine.

Lee is survived by his wife, Patty Renfro of Myrtle Beach, SC, a son Edwin Renfro (Tessa) of Afton, TN and a daughter Crystal Blanton (Kevin) of Moore, SC. Survivors also include his mother, Vivian Renfro of Chuckey, TN, his sisters; Joan Stuart (John) of Chuckey, TN and Janet Osburne (Billy) of Pell City, AL, his brother, Daryl Renfro of Chuckey, TN and Elizabethton, TN. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren who he cherished; Kellie Renfro, Abigail Freeman, Gabrielle Stokley, Edwin Lee Renfro, Bella-Ann Blanton and Anna-Grace Blanton. Three Aunts survive Lee; Carolyn Haynes (Tex), Marie Tittle, and Ernestine Peterson (Harvey) along with a host of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Arthur Renfro of Chuckey, TN, his maternal grandparents; James and Mamie Randolph Johnson and paternal grandparents; Dewey Renfro and Mary Lee Coffie Renfro.

Per Lee’s wishes, there will be no services held. In lieu of services, Lee requests that you go enjoy a nice day outdoors with your family and friends. A celebration of life will be hosted by the family at a date yet to be determined.
