Obituary of Larry Allen Metts

Larry Allen Metts of Little Mountain left us on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.

Larry leaves behind Donna, his wife of 34 years, and two sons, David Lee Marshall (Anna) of Huntsville, AL and Robert Lee Metts, of Tuscaloosa, AL.  He also leaves his four sisters, Kay Porter, Dot Broughton, Debbie Humm & Lisa Metts as well as two sisters-in-law, Kathy McKay (Sonny) & Cindy Morris (Henry) and one brother-in-law, Mike Lee (Dora) and is predeceased by his mother, Annie Mae, father, Claude and sister, Janice.

His many friends and family will miss his dry sense of humor and his always being the one to call on as he willingly shared his skills as a master carpenter and all around handyman.  Larry was also very proud to have served in the US Army, 68th Air Defense Artillery and was an advocate for animals including his rescue pups, Alibama & Saban.

He was a simple man with simple requests and to honor him the family will hold a celebration of life/visitation at the family home on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 1:00 -3:00 pm.  Please join us in sharing some food, music and memories of Larry.

In lieu of flowers, to continue his support of needful animals and honoring our veterans, if you are able, please make a donation in Larry’s name to Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary or SoldiersAngels.Org

South Carolina Cremation Society is assisting the family. Family and friends may sign the online guest book by clicking on the “Tribute Wall” tab above.
