Obituary of Robert Earl Whidby

Robert Earl Whidby "Bobby" passed into God's Hands on November 17, 2022. He was born in Atlanta, GA to Earl Whidby and Mary Ann McKibben Whidby on March 8, 1953.

Bobby's education included graduating from Ridgeview High School in Atlanta in 1972 and Georgia Tech in 1978 with a degree in physics where he excelled in computer programming which was a new field. His work field included Governmental such as SCDPPPS OMS PIC and private industry employment which spanned numerous areas of the world. He loved to play war games and studied various battles with great attention to details. He also loved Columbia and would always return there every time he moved away. His easy understanding of math assisted him throughout his life. In third grade, he would do his uncle's math from college but had difficulty with simple 3rd grade problems. Toys such as the Mr. Machine were his delights. Now he is in heaven with Mom, putting together and delighting his complicated puzzles and challenges in his own world.

As a child, he was raised in the Baptist church but moved to Risen Christ Lutheran Church when living in North Myrtle Beach and then Hold Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbia SC. He is survived by sisters, Cathy Honeycutt of Moncks Corner, SC and Virginia Ann Whidby of Atlanta GA, along with step-mother Patricia Whidby and half-brother, Kenneth Whidby. He was predeceased by his mother, Ann Whidby, father Earl Whidby and nephew Scott Honeycutt.
