Obituary of Gilbert Charles Byrd

Gilbert Charles Byrd, 67, died on November 18, 2022. Gil was born to Gilbert Charles Byrd, Sr. and Agnes Grooms Byrd Robertson and lived most of his life in Coward.

Gilbert “Gil” was a 1973 graduate of JC Lynch High School in Coward, SC where he was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by his peers. Gil attended Francis Marion College. A highly intelligent man, Gil was unable to escape the challenges of mental illness; he is finally at peace.

He is survived by his sister, Melaney Byrd Mills, Steve Mills, Delaney Mills and Conner Mills.

There will be a graveside service for the family at Tabernacle FWB Church with a celebration of life to be announced. In lieu of flowers or memorials in Gil’s name; consider visiting a friend or family member or send a comforting word to someone in need. It can make all the difference.
