Auntie, it was a wonderful occasion when my family got to meet you for the first time. My Dad gained a sister and we gained an Aunt. I enjoyed and will miss our long talks.

So sorry to hear of Emily’s passing. I’m so happy to have known her and giving communion out along side her. Over the years we would see each other at mass and just acknowledge each other with a nod and smile.
I will miss that friendship and may she rest in peace with our lord.

So sorry to read that Emily has passed but happy to see that she had such a full life. We were friends at Alcorn Jr. High School in Columbia SC. During the tumultuous times of busing students we lost touch as we suddenly in different schools. Many years later Emily(with a big smile) came up to me and introduced herself. We hugged and chatted for a moment, then went our ways. A lovely soul.

Emily, my friend, you left us way too soon.
We will miss your voice, your laughter, your presence.
I am so so glad you were part of our sisterhood on Zoom Wednesday.
Watch over us Emily.

Emily was indeed an exceptional human being. Kind, full of intellectual curiosity and accomplishment -- a font of knowledge. I find comfort in seeing her reunited with loving spirits in heaven who cherish her there as we do on this plane. The attached photo shows Emily in the early 1980s. From left: Katherine Dawkins Ray, Grace Brooks Palmer, Emily Newman, and Gloria (Rackley) Blackwell. Bless them all.
