Obituary of David Lee Richardson

David Lee Richardson, 56, went to his heavenly home with our Lord and Savior on October 28, 2022.  David is no longer suffering and is enjoying seeing his mother, Joan Sumner Brown in their heavenly home.

David left behind father, Henry Harlan Richardson III, and stepfather, J Steven Brown, sister Reba Smith and her husband Tommy, sister Lou R Cutter and her husband Jerry, sister Samantha Thomas and her husband Barry Jr, brother Dale Watlington and his wife Trish, brother Ronald Richardson and his wife Sandra, and brother Henry Dabbs.  He also is survived by a large number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews!

David had no children, but loved children and showed so much love and attention to kids when they are around.  His neighbor and friend, has a granddaughter that always love go find “Davin” and ask him to play.

He also had a small parrot, Tink, that he loved dearly.  Anytime you’d stop by or call, you’d hear Tink squawking up a storm.  Tink also loved to call David “turkey”.  Tink misses him still and has not said “turkey” since David’s passing.  Tink is being loved and cared for by Samantha Thomas’ former husband, George Kerechanin, and falling for Tink himself.  David would be so happy to know his baby bird is well taken care of and gets lots of attention.

David lived in William’s Place Apt’s, MHASC (Mental Health America of SC) community and was the driver for those who could not drive or just wanted to ride with everyone else and spend time together.  He had a number of good close friends in the community and was well loved and respected by all that knew him.

David was also active in the I. C. Hope Program that helped young children learn to cope with and to handle mental health challenges.  David would wear a large duck outfit and sing and dance with the kids.

David also was an active member of the Asphalt Eaters Scooter Club in his area.  He had two scooters and one was special in that himself and club president, Jay, would work on together in hopes to get it running again.  In honor of David, the family has passed on that particular scooter to the club along with his helmets and club shirts to the scooter club.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family has asked to please donate to the I. C. Hope Duck Team that he started and was a part of. You can donate at the following site:   https://www.mentalhealthamerica-sc.com/i-c-hope
