Obituary of Nina Llano Martinez

Lexington, SC - Nina Martinez, 96 went to a better place on October 28, 2022.

Nina was born in Güines, Habana, Cuba November 6, 1925 to Maria de los Angeles Armas R. Mena and Julian F. Llano Gutierrez. She married Jesus Enrique Martinez in Cuba.

When Castro took over Cuba, they sent their two daughters to the U.S. They came later in a direct flight to Miami, Florida, then settled in Gainesville, Florida, and brought their daughters back to live with them.

Nina worked for University of Florida, Shands Teaching Hospital for 30 years. After her retirement from Shands she worked as an aid at Steven Foster Elementary School in Gainesville, Florida. She was Catholic but enjoyed going to other churches with friends when invited.

Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Enrique, who died November 26, 2004; also her parents and sister, Gloria Pino.

Nina is survived by her sister Flora Roos; daughters Gloria Quave and Carmen Crenshaw; her sons-in-law Ron Quave and Donnie Crenshaw; grand-daughters Leslie Waters and husband Andy Waters, Elaine Quave and husband Waylon Bigsby; grand-sons Steven Crenshaw wife Heidi Crenshaw and Bryan Crenshaw wife Tiffany Crenshaw; her 10 great-grandchildren, and her niece Flora Gonzalez.

In commemoration, Nina’s family will come together for a private Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes can donate to the kidney foundation or to your favorite charity in her name.
