Obituary of Carol Frye

Mary Carol Frye, 76, died peacefully at her home in West Columbia on Friday May 3rd, 2019 after a long illness. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 11th at 2 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in West Columbia.

Carol was born in Montgomery, AL on January 6th, 1943 to the late Robert and Mary Brewer. She grew up in Opelika, AL and was a graduate of Opelika High School. She was married and amicably divorced from the late William “Bill” McCarter of Opelika.

Carol poured her heart into all that she attempted. Over the years she worked as a homemaker; in criminal justice at the Department of Corrections and the United States Marshal’s Service; and as an Activity Director at the Columbia Presbyterian Community. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she became a lay speaker, and was an active member of Emmaus of the Midlands. She loved to laugh and share a good story and was a lifelong Auburn fan. War Eagle!

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Robert Dean Frye; daughters Lesley Kellett (David) of Columbia and Chalice McGee (Will) of North Augusta; step-daughter Shelly Wilson (David) of Columbia; step-sons Jason Frye (Milana) of Lexington and Paul Frye (Andrea) of Greer. Grandchildren include Bonnie Kellett; Amber Bagwell (Andrew); Chloe, William and Alison McGee; Tristan and Hailey Frye; and great-grandchild Kaitlyn Bagwell. Also survived by her sister, Diane Muszynski; niece Donna Muszynski and many cousins and relatives.

She was predeceased by her first-born son, Craig McCarter and nephew, Stephen Muszynski.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on Carol’s behalf to: Trinity United Methodist Church, 1201 Mohawk Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169.
