Obituary of Mary Frances Pulley

Mary Frances Pulley, 87, of Newberry, South Carolina passed away July 7, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born on July 4, 1935 in Shannon, Georgia to the late Jesse and Gertie (Dugger) Williams and widow of the late Paul Pulley. Frances was a loyal friend, loving mother, caring grandmother and devoted wife.

Frances spent most of her life in Columbia, South Carolina. Frances had a group of loving and loyal friends that she and Paul spent time going on trips to Garden City Beach and on bowling leagues throughout the years. She was a member of the Cayce Moose Lodge, American Legion and Red Hat Society. The last twelve years of her life were lived with her daughter in Newberry, South Carolina. In Newberry she attended Road Runners where she met many wonderful friends who went sightseeing with her. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Newberry, South Carolina.

Frances’ one true love was her late husband Paul whom she was married to for 57 years. Together they had three children- Paula James (Dan), Denise Rhodes (Paul) and Michael Pulley (Myrna). Frances had four grandchildren- Lawson James, Maddock James, Benjamin Rhodes and Kayleigh Laws (Chris). Her grandchildren were so special to her and they loved the memories the made with “Grandma Pulley”.

She is also survived by four great-grandchildren- Aiden Henley, Logan Tillery, Lucas Tillery and Devin Tillery; two honorary grandchildren- Lily and Cooper Lewis; and special nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Pulley; her brother, Lamar Williams; and other special family members.

Services will be held on August 6, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, Newberry, South Carolina at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, Frances’ children ask that you share love by doing a good deed in her honor. Frances would have appreciated donations to the relocation fund for the First Baptist Church, 1020 Boundary Street, Newberry, South Carolina 29108.

Her children would like to thank all of the special people who have provided us support and love as we navigate a world without either of our parents.
