Obituary of Miriam Virginia Pendarvis Evans

Miriam Virginia (Mickey) Pendarvis Evans, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the age of 100.

Mickey was born on October 18, 1921 in Harleyville, SC to Charles Asbury and Minnie Lee Pendarvis. Mickey and her first husband, David Leon Evans raised four children in Charleston, SC, Raleigh NC, and later in Charlotte, NC. Mickey was remarried in 1980 to Mitch Pearson, and later divorced.

Mickey was called “Gamma” by all after her first grandchild was born. She was loved and respected by everyone who knew her, and she never met a stranger. She was kind and beautiful - inside, and out. She loved shopping, reading, and spending time with her family most of all. To say that she will be missed is an understatement. She was the Matriarch of our family.

Mickey was preceded in death by her parents, all 14 of her siblings, both of her husbands, and her four children, David L. Evans Jr., John W. Evans, Robert (Bobby) L. Evans, and M. Annette Evans, as well as a stepdaughter and great grandchild. She is survived by her nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, a stepdaughter, step grandchildren, as well as three daughters-in-law.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, July 30th at 2:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 226 W. Liberty Street, Sumter, SC 29150. Services will be held in the Chapel, with Reception and food following in the Fellowship Hall.
