Obituary of Ruth Kaye Harley
Ruth Kaye Harley, born Ruth Kaye Lloyd in Columbia, South Carolina on February 16 1952, Passed away Friday May 6th 2022.
Ruth was born to Flora Delle and Willie Lloyd along with her brothers David, Paul, Larry and Donald Loyd and sister Lou Sharpe and twin sister Faye Lee. After graduating Swansea High School, Kaye married Sammy Earl Harley and had two children Sebrena Elaine Harley and Jacob Earl Harley. Kaye and Sammy split after 17 years of marriage. Kaye remained in southern California were she worked a union job for Yellow Freight Trucking loading and unloading big rigs. Kaye took pride in her work and would flex her biceps whenever her son would ask. Kaye will be remembered for being a loving Grandma, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and friend.
In 2009, Kaye retired from Yellow Freight and came home to Swansea to be closer to her brothers, sisters, two children and granddaughter Bailey Harley. Once Kaye came back, she enjoyed her retirement by making her own schedule. She was able to do as she pretty pleased, go out to eat when she wanted, go shopping when she felt like it, stay in and just watch TV if it fit her mood that day, but most of all she could watch her granddaughter grow from a little girl to a beautiful young woman who is currently in the U.S. Army, which brought mountains of pride to Kaye.
